Peer Review
Peer Review or Referee Process
Each scholarly journal has an editorial board that asks subject experts to review and evaluate submitted articles before accepting them for publication. Articles are evaluated using criteria including the excellence, novelty and significance of the research or ideas. The peer review process allows scholarly journals to protect and maintain the quality of material they publish. Readers can have confidence that, while they may not agree with what they read, authors have followed the research standards of a discipline. Members of the editorial board are listed near the beginning of each journal issue.
