To borrow library materials from the Mount and other Novanet libraries as a Mount Alumni, please Request an Alumni Card.
In addition to acting as your library card, your Alumni Card offers you additional benefits as a graduate of MSVU. For more details on alum benefits, please see the Alumni Discount and Perks page.
Your Alumni card and an updated library account are all that is needed to borrow materials from the Mount Library.
Community Borrowers, including Mount Alumni, may borrow up to 10 items at a time. The general loan period for materials from the Mount is 21 days (3 weeks). You can check your current loans and due dates by logging in to your library account. Please choose 'Other User' and sign in with your personal email address and Novanet password. If you are unable to sign in, please contact the Library Desk at 902-457-6520 or library@msvu.ca.
Loans from the Mount Library can be renewed (extended) up to three times. You may renew borrowed materials through your library account as long as the due date has not yet passed, and no one else has placed a request for the same item.
If you are unable to renew your item or the due date for it has passed, call or email the library staff at 902-457-6250 or library@msvu.ca, and we'll be happy to help you.
Your Mount Alumni card allows you to borrow physical materials from any university/college library that is part of the Novanet Consortium. For a full list of Novanet Libraries, please visit the official Novanet page here. You may also request items from any Novanet library and have them delivered to the Novanet library of your choice for pickup.
For instructions on how to place a hold request through Novanet, please see this tutorial: How to Place a Hold Request in Novanet.
Please note that due dates for materials borrowed from other libraries may differ from those for Mount materials; always check your due dates in your library account!
Materials borrowed from a Novanet library may be returned to any public, university, or college library, and they will be returned to the owning library through the BARA program. Likewise, materials you have borrowed from the public library can also be returned to the Mount Library or any other Novanet library for return to the public library. Please be aware that there may be some time where the items still appear on your account; once the item is received by the owning library, the return will be backdated.
Please note that you will still require a public library card to borrow from public libraries.
For more information about the BARA program, or to see a list of participating libraries, see the Libraries and Museums Nova Scotia official webpage.
All Community Borrowers, including Alumni, have on-campus access to Library databases, public computers, and printing at the Mount. (Home/off-campus access to Library databases is available to current students, staff, and faculty only.)
You may borrow materials from other Novanet libraries using our Document Delivery service. There is no charge for this service.
Requests are placed via the Novanet Library Search.
